Hilwood forest discussion

Just wondering.. how's everything going?
Has everyone been very busy? Or are we stuck?
Any ideas on how to go on from here?

(Just a little bit! Maybe we can start anew to later on or something?)

((I'm kinda busy with schoolwork. I have a lot of papers to write. I know, I know... I could throw something out there... but I'm positive I'd spend too much time brooding on my submission and I feel very uncomfortable with short posts.

I think we should work towards getting the cast to sleep, then have them journey to the gas station in the morning. Not exactly a publish-worthy story, but hey, there will be interaction, right?

I'm also cool with a time skip.))

Yeah, once the gang gets together on the road again we'll have some new material to work with.

I think we are getting bogged down. I agree, something 'fresh' should happen.

I like the idea that we get them to a gas station! We could definitely make it really creepy and maybe give the kids a much more physical threat?

Yeah, it should be more adventurous.. Maybe someone or something's following them? (could even turn out to be Brainy XD )
Ow! Gerald should tell an urban legend about Hilwood Forest! Maybe around the campfire before they go to bed. Yes! Something scary that lives in the forest and eats kids xD

Before we skip I'm going to send a message to Standard Toaster and possibly send out a call for a new Gerald. I'd really like to get back to just playing ONE character and I really think we need a specific person for Helga. Hatterlet's done a good job of balancing things, but I do sort of feel like we aren't really getting the full Helga effect. :\

Actually, since we're sort of timing out for the moment anyway I figure I'll ask:

Should Standard Toaster be unable to reprise her role as Helga in the RP what do you think we should do? I'm willing to first offer the role to her runners up: Hatterlet and then uhhh, shit. I forget who was the second runner up. Possibly NintendoGal?

Though if Nintendo were to take Helga then Arnold would be open and maybe Freddie could do Arnold but THEN WE LOSE GINO. And basically I really want to avoid having people already in the RP begin swapping characters.

So I'm fairly certain that I could really garner us some interest and snag a half-decent Helga (maybe Gerald too) from DA or LJ or something, but I also don't want to rob you guys of characters that you technically might have earned the right to!

SO. As of now, we'll wait for Standard Toaster, but if she doesn't come back I really think we should get a new Helga and first we'll ask:

1) Hatterlet
2) Person #2 OH GOD WHO ARE YOU

And if they accept we'll just have to work around that. If they decline then I say we put up a notification to the public and do a second round of applications for Helga (and Gerald). However, if we do a second round of apps then I maybe we ought to do it so that only those involved in the RP already may vote?

So are we ending the current RP? Starting anew? I'm gonna miss Phoebe if that is the case...

No, we're not ending the game yet, right? We're just gonna get moving through the forest to find the nearest gas station.

And damn, I wish AG would show up >< She'd be perfect for playing Helga again

ANYWAY, well, if it would make things easier and someone was willing to take over Arnold, I COULD take over as Helga if it comes down to that.

Honestly, if someone else wants Helga, they can have her. I love her to death as a character, but I'm not giving her near as much attention as she deserves, plus I don't think I can really grasp her character enough to play her properly. Even though I auditioned for her. >.<

Nintendo was it you that auditioned for Helga? I also kind of think it might have been Perhapsormaybe. I know Weird1 did, but she's gone and her audition got last place if I recall.

But yeah: NO STOPPING. I'm just sort of trying to figure out what to do with our missing characters.

Basically, does anybody have any major issue with me outsourcing for a possible Helga replacement (assuming I don't hear back from Standard Toaster in like the next day or so - I sent her a PM earlier today)? If not, I think that's the route we should go and we'll just re-audition for her part and in the meantime we'll just work around her? I really think everyone's playing their own parts epically and I really don't want people to start swapping roles, y'know?

That's okay hatterlet, sometimes even the smartest of us HA! nerds can have a hard time with ol' Helga from time to time. XD But you did just fine though, don't worry. :3

Oh! And to answer your question Squirrel, it wasn't me. XD I auditioned for Arnold and Phoebe. I did consider Helga, but I was a little nervous at the time, considering that I was sure I'd suck playing her.

I could probably play any character, but honestly I auditioned for Harold for a reason. I also never ever want to fully play Helga, because she IS such a big, important character that is essentially the heart of the series that playing her is almost a responsibility. I think it could be fun, but I also think that you really have to WANT to play her.

Also I feel like it's sort of my fault for things being so slow. Technically we're stalled at a point where I'm playing THREE characters (Helga talking to Pheobe). Two of which are in the same scene. I think that's contributing to the lull.

It's not your fault, some of the problems we've faced, as well as real life and the time zones can also take a toll on things. Although I too can be partially to blame since I felt a little stuck on what to do next considering a mistake I made earlier on. *Rubs back of neck*

Well, so what do we do?

Hatterlet seems settled on Phoebe. I'm 98% sure that Perhapsormaybe is our last Helga audition person so if she would prefer having Helga to Curly then she can claim her (Though I'd miss her Curly! *sob sob*)

I'm giving Standard Toaster until tomorrow night to respond to my PM. If we don't hear from her I'd say that she forfeits her right to play Helga.

Then, assuming she doesn't respond, we'll have to send out a call for someone to play Helga at the RP. Honestly, it shouldn't be THAT hard to drum up a response. We'll have them all submit paragraphs and also I'm going to let them know that they are going to be held accountable for posting as Helga and that she's kind of an important role.

In the meantime I say we make up some excuse for Helga being gone and continue on with the RP from the gas station scenes.

Yeah. And although Phoebe/Gino mush was fun while it lasted, it does nothing to advance the plot.

What about Gerald? Are we going to find someone else for him?

I'd totally take Helga. Don't get me wrong, I *adore* playing Curly (who else can you play that crazily) but there's really not much to do with the character, mostly I sit around and wait for an opening. Helga would allow me to do a lot more.

Well, I suppose that works out. We could have you bump to Helga and sort of ... knock off Curly and Gerald since they really aren't as important. Also, we can still send out more requests for players so that maybe people will be able to swoop in and pick up Gerald/Curly since they're semi-popular characters after all.

All right, just let me know when you guys wanted to get started. I know you wanted to give Standard Toaster another day to claim her character, and if she does I'm totally cool with staying as Curly.

Aw, I'll miss your Curly, Mel. But you'll make one heck of a Helga.
